Background: currently have Sky + HD with a smart tv. Smart TV has internet ethernet connection allowing me access to apps, such as Netflix, All 4, Amaxon Prime Video etc etc. Internet is hardwired from my router as wi fi in my house is not excellent ! I do not have a TV in any other room of my house; and I do not want TV in any other room either !
Bearing in mind that that i have read the Sky Q forum article from nigea99 of 04 Nov 2023 (thank you nigea99, most helpful) what I am now looking for is advice on:-
a) if I call Sky to order Sky Q can I, in that call, get clarification as to which Sky Q box I am being offered ?
b) if I go ahead and an engineer comes to my house and he reckons my dish needs replacing .... who pays for the new dish and its installation ? If I have to pay for it, can I refuse to let the Sky engineer install it and get a private local firm to do the installation etc If so, will Sky charge me for their engineers time etc ? and
c) can I stick with Variety, Complete Sky Sports and Sky+ HD. I presume that £14 per month currently labelled against Sky+ HD on my bill will move to another title ? Basically no increase in my current £89 per month Sky bill ?
Anything else I should be concerned about ? Any assistance much appreciated. Dave.

The default would be the 1TB UHD/HDR box

Sky pays for that: typically the dish is reused with the LNB being replaced.

'Variety' is no longer an available baseline bundle: that's 'Signature' or more usually 'Ultimate TV' (Signature & Netflix Basic)

You should be able to do so - although the advisers do not know some of the references used here (e.g. V1 , V2, V3 ) they should know 1TB non UHD, 2TB UHD (but not HDR) and 1TB & 2TB HDR capable
b) if I go ahead and an engineer comes to my house and he reckons my dish needs replacing .... who pays for the new dish and its installation ? SKY Install (& pay for) any new dish or cabling needed
Edit : SKY have changed working practices in more recent years and have more stringent Health & Safety constraints for their engineers, so If your existing dish is deemed inaccessible & there is no alternative suitable place to install they may not continue.
and
c) can I stick with Variety, Complete Sky Sports and Sky+ HD. I presume that £14 per month currently labelled against Sky+ HD on my bill will move to another title ? Basically no increase in my current £89 per month Sky bill ?
I am not sure on this - you will definitely need to move to Signature if you want Netflix
(As per my later post on the info thread sometimes moving to Signature may work out cheaper - you would need to discuss)
Anything else I should be concerned about ? Any assistance much appreciated. Dave.
I have tried to cover most things in my notes but if there is anything you specifically want to knw about feel free to ask & we will endeavour to answer

The equivalent subs on Sky Q of Sky Signature, Sky Sports and HD should be quite a bit lower than £89 if you negotiate a good deal on a new 18 month contract.
