Connecting my LG S65Q sound bar.

Hello

we have recently bought a new TV and we got a free sound bar and sub woofer with it.  (LGS65Q).   I have managed to sort it all out apart from the sound bar is not recognised by Sky.    (It plays fine through the TV).  I've changed all the settings in the TV and Sky to Dolby     

Has anyone any suggestions as having 2 remotes is so annoying.

Unfortunately I have no specific knowledge of LG products so I can only speak in general terms.

I am not 100% clear if you are having problems with the sound from SKY Q via your Sound bar or just the remote to control it

To set up the remote, if you haven't already tried this, try going to 

Home - Settings - Setup - Remote Control - SKY Q Remote (assuming it is the latest one & not an old Touch one) - Control a Speaker System 

Then Select LG & then try I know it & follow the on screen instructions to try the volume buttons etc

if you are also having problems with the sound please can you confirm which HDMI connections your SKY Q box & Sound bar are connected to & give us the model of your TV,

@nigea99 firstly have you got both the soundbar and the SkyQ box connect to your tv? The soundbar should be connected to the eARC port of the tv, usually this is HDMI port 2 on a LG TV. Then the SkyQ can be connected to another port of the tv...

Yes I have it all set up correctly as previously I had our Bose soundbar set up but changed it over.    The TV is the new LG OLED 63C one.     When I go through all the different settings.   The remote doesn't work for the soundbar but does for the TV.     It might be Sky don't have the setting yet?    I didn't know if others were having issues and sorted it.  It is new ish over the last 6 months.

Thanks I have tried all that.  It's the the OLED 65C34LA and the sound bar is LG S65Q.

Hi @NatBurrell 

You cannot pair the Sky Q remote to work volume on both TV and Soundbar.  It's one or the other.  On/Off, mute and Input select is always reserved for TV.  When you select to pair with Amp/Soundbar in the remote settings this is instead of TV volume.

Normally its best to use TV for volume and if the soundbar and TV are connected by HDMI and Cec control is on then Soundbar volume will change by altering TV bolume

Hi. You don't need to pair the Sky remote to the soundbar. Go into the TV sound settings and turn on "Smartlink" as both TV and soundbar are LG, they can be controlled by one remote, including powering on and off. As the Sky Q remote can do this for the TV, you can put the soundbar remote away. ( I have the same TV and soundbar)

I was going to say this. The TV should control the soundbar volume via eARC.

(as an aside, annoyingly my Panasonic loves to randomly forget it should be using the AV amp and I have to remind it at least twice a week. Luckily it's only a few clicks but even so...)
