Connecting Skq q mini to sky extender

I've got a bar in my garden now and want to get sky in there. I have sky q and 2 mini boxes. The sky mesh network it creates isn't string enough to get to my bar.

I got a extender last year as I was having loads of problems with my mini boxes losing connection to the main box, when they did this they said I must use a wired connection for my wifi. I asked about wiring a the sky q mini box in my bar and they said I'd need to hard wire from my main sky box to the mini. I know I can do this using powerline adaptors but then I can't hard wire my internet to the main box.

So instead of wiring from my main sky box can I wire from the extender?

Hi @Jimbob84

Providing it is a Sky Q WiFi booster then yes you can.

Make sure you use External grade Ethernet if it is outside.

If you are on Sky Broadband then you can also Ethernet to your Sky Router if it more practical.

Hi

Just checked and it turns out it doesnt have a ethernet port! So not sure what I'm supposed to do as the engineer said I have to use ethernet due to the fact I'm using my own mesh system for my wifi

Hi @Jimbob84

Looks like it is not a Sky Q WiFi booster.  These certainly have an Ethernet port.

If it's the v2 release (SE210A) of the Sky Broadband Booster, that didn't have the ethernet port (the v1 model did)

Why would using powerlines stop you comnecting the Q to the router over ethernet? I do this. Just put a switch behind the Q.

(btw, I did smile at the concept of using a wired connection for wifi 😉 )
