Connected to router no internet on second router

I have two broadband connections. One Sky Q with router and Zen with Draytek Vigor router. Sky Q main box and two minis are connected to Sky Q router with ethernet and wifi switched off all boxes. All working fine for many years, in fact since Q was first launched.

I am upgrading to full fibre so wanted to check that Q boxes would work with the Zen broadband so I can consider all options. They simply wouldnt. I unplugged the sky router and simply swapped the single ethernet cable supplying the whole network via unmanaged tp-link switches to the Zen (Draytek) router. THe whole network functioned including internet and wifi. However the Q box repeatedly reported that it was connected to the router but there was no internet. Normal Sky Q programs available but no functions which require internet. The box reported the same IP address as the router DHCP table. I can see the sky boxes on network scans. All other devices both ethernet and wifi connected with no problems, all of which had been on the Sky router.

I powered down all the network hardware and rebooted. I Reset the network configuration in Q box, including choosing the option of "Connect via ethernet to a non Sky router". I unplugged waited 5 minutes and repeated everything several times.

Reconnected to the Sky router and all working fine. Puzzled by this. Having searched widely Q boxes clearly connect to non Sky routers when connected by ethernet. Mine connected to the router and were assigned IP addresses but could not see the internet.
