Given that Sky+ hardware is sold, not loaned, I don't think remotes were ever 'free'.

A replacement would be claimable under warranty in the first year but all Sky+ hardware is now at least eight years old.

Quickest way is to purchase one from a larger supermarket or retailer. The remotes Sky offer for free are usually for faulty devices. 

You should be able to find it…

Find my remote

Sick of losing your remote down the back of the sofa? So are we. That’s why our Sky Q touch remotes have a handy Find my remote feature to stop you turning your house upside down when you’ve lost it.

Press the Q button on the front of your Sky Q box and after a few seconds a paired Sky Q touch/Sky Q remote with Voice Control will beep for 30 seconds.

Once you've found it, press any button on your remote to stop the beeping.

After checking the basics, ie; fresh batteries, re-pairing etc if your Sky Q remote is definitely broken/faulty, if you follow this link it should allow you to do some more troubleshooting and then it’ll send you to a form to request a replacement (I’m not sure if this is available to customers in the Republic of Ireland).

It may be quicker to purchase a new remote from a retailer / larger supermarket. If you do that as well as the above you’ll have a spare.

In the meantime if you have an Apple device with Sky Go you can possibly set up a virtual remote to control your Sky Q box. See this link which may help
