My mother currently has Sky+ set in her living room and an old sky box in her bedroom. She is 90 and moving to an Assisted Living Residential flat with her two TV's. She struggles with IT of any kind and especially new innovations/kit.
My first question is can she taker her old kit with her and get SKY to install it into her flat?
Second question is can she upgrade to SKY Q and a multi room box (via purchasing through sky).
She enjoys watching her recordings and as I understand it there is no facility to watch recordings on Sky Stream so this is not going to be an option. Plus explaining how to stream is going to be impossible as her ability to retain the knowledge is not great and will stress her out.
Thirdly, am I the only one that thinks the benifits of streaming are lost when you consider that you lose the ability to record and watch later, loss of wifi means loss of the ability to watch any tv and recordings. Also the freezing to watch in another room via multi room was a big upgrade. I'm all for technology but this is going backwards.

If your mother's existing Sky+ boxes function well enough then it's probably best that you stick with them. Sky Q is quite different and will probably only frustrate her with the changes.
I'd advise that you maybe get in touch with an independent satellite installer and enquire about getting a dish and cabling fitted to the new address so it's a simple case of connecting up your mother's current Sky+ boxes, then everything will remain identical to how it is for her now and the move will be less stressful for all concerned.

You should also check if there's any restriction on having a dish, or if there's a communal satellite signal distribution system.
