I have purchased an extra mini for my sons bedroom and got it working ok but it will not allow us to watch live TV on the main box and two mini boxes at the same time. Can still watch netflix etc or anything recorded or on demand. I presume I need to upgrade my package but cant find an option on the sky website.
I ordered the extra minibox through the sky shop but on my equipment list on the app it only shows my main box (Sky Q 1TB box) and one mini box. The second box isnt listed.

You didn't purchase it. Sky Q mini boxes are loaned to you, the same as the main box.
You can have a maximum of 4 mini boxes loaned to you by Sky. You can watch Sky content on two minis and the main box at the same time. You may be able to use a 3rd mini box at the same time if you’re using it for one of the apps such as Netflix.
Be aware the original 1TB (non-UHD) Sky Q box only allows one mini to be in use. To check if you have the non UHD 1TB box check in:-
Home - Settings - System Info - Hardware Version
If it shows as 32Cxxx then you have a non UHD 1TB that only supports 1 active mini box.
All 2TBs and the UHD/HDR 1TB permit two mini boxes. Each mini box which is loaned to you may be subject to a one off upfront charge but you only need one Sky Q monthly Multiscreen subscription.

What hardware version is it? https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-software-updates

Thanks for the reply. I have an older Sky Q 1TB box. From the link you provided I would be eligible for an upgrade to a Sky Q 1TB UHD Box. Do you know if this would resolve the issue (I think the spec sheet says it would) ?

@JF-1976 yes the 1TB UHD box would allow 2 mini boxes to work at the same time you will need to contact Sky with regards to upgrading to this box and they may charge a fee for the upgrade
