Can't upgrade or add packages

Got an email from Sky offering a 4 month trial of UHD which I thought I would accept. Email link took me to My Sky app which showed a "technical error" ("It's not you, it's us"). I rang up. They couldn't resolve the matter - or, it seems, order a UHD box for me or add TNT Sports to my package. Lots of head scratching and an assurance that "someone will get back to me". I am however, not reassured.

Is this common?
