Can I pair a sky+ remote to a skyQ box?

Just got a free upgrade from + to Q yesterday, so a shiney new skyQ box , new dish, new handset all set up and working fine (by a very efficient and professional Sky engineer...).

However we had a handset each for Sky+, and want the same facility on SkyQ.

I was about to order an additional handset from Amazon when I came across the issue about "second handset has to be IR only" on this forum, and read up on how to pair them both and so on.

Being mean by nature, the thought has occurred to me that our old (actually quite new...) Sky+ handset is IR, with what appear to be all of the necesary buttons (no voice of course...).

Before I try to pair our old handset to our new box, it occurred to me that there might be problems that have not occurred to me - so I thought I would ask...

Thanks in advance, John

@Tardebigge afraid Sky + remotes don't work on Sky Q boxes

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Sky Q 2 TB (Silver)Box, 2 Mini boxes since June 2016, all connected by wifi
Sky Broadband Hub/SR203, Sky Ultrafast broadband

Yep, problems are that it uses a completely different set of IR codes.
