@Derrick241

Just to be clear a Sky engineer should not take your Sky Q box away (unless it's faulty and is being replaced), nor should you suggest the engineer takes it. If Sky agree to you cancelling completely (and I don't see why they can't), you will have to return it yourself using the boxes Sky would send out to you. Keep any proof of posting if and when you return it.

@Daniel0210 makes a very good point - SKY's systems are just not geared to getting returned boxes via engineers

THe returns system is a little - shall we say - temperamental and best to follow it correctly as straying away from that usually results in non returns payments being charged

@Derrick241  We know you are keen to get rid but once your cancellation is processed SKY will send a box for it's return - See my post I made just before you posted - it is best to follow their usual processes

@Derrick241

As others have said, you are 100% within your right to cancel the Q contract without paying fees because you are within your cooling off period. However this does not mean Sky have to re-install Sky+ or change your LNB.

So IMO your best option is to cancel Sky Q, send it all back and then have an external company come and sort the dish to how you want it so you can watch freesat.

@Derrick241

You have to cancel first then the returns packaging is usually sent out to the address that the account is registered at.

hi @Derrick241

I have to admit I am not too  sure why you are asking this but the answer is no - not 2 LNBs  (not from the same satellite - some dishes can  have 2 LNBs - each pointing to a different Satellite position).

There is - as mentioned earlier in the discussion - a type of LNB that provides both the wideband signals used by SKY Q (and can be used by the Freesat 4K boxes) via one set of connections and the older Universal signals  as used by SKY HD & Freesat boxes from another Set of connections - this is called a Hybrid LNB

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q

I have an old dish on my wall, I have had it for years, I dont know if it works, Sky engineerscut the cables when they put in their dish

I could get it checked out and if possible get new cables and a new LNB fitted

Potentially, yes, but it requires some ingenuity in mounting them.

@Derrick241 You keep saying that your Freesat box gives you "the same" as your Sky Q Box. But, presumably, it doesn't give you Sky channels, the Cinema channels or the Sports channels. So, not the same.

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q

I contacted Sky, once you have Sky Q, there is no going back, the engineer was going to refit the old LNB, but Sky said NO

they would cancel my contract with no penalties and then I could rejoin, but they aren't having Sky HD any more

so no matter what you do you will end up with Sky Q or Sky glass

This is for all new or returning customers, they are trying to phase out the Sky HD boxes

that is it now it's freesat for me, I paid the Sky engineer to refit the old LNB for me

lead, follow or get out of the dam way lol

As we typically observe, Sky+ HD hardware manufacture ceased in 2015 to make way for Q production, and new Sky+ subscriptions haven't been available for several years (except on communal dish systems which cannot support Q)
