Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q
Freesat is not better than SkyQ by any reasonable measure.
Q does take some getting used to. The voice control is surprisingly good. I preferred the HD remote too but I certainly wouldn't call the Q one chunky, it's smaller isn't it?
Personally I find the idea of scrolling through the TV planner completely alien these days. When someone chooses to broadcast something has given way to streaming from a massive content library when it suits the consumer.
Reminders are a lot less necessary on Q because so much is available on-demand. Live Sport is about the only use case now and well, everyone's phone has a voice activated reminder function that works really well in seconds.
I did laugh at the outright cheek of the installer. Wanted to put it on eBay probably.

I just had to use VLC player
But this is off topic really
Sky HD could be copied to an external recorder in fact the instruction book told you how to do it, when there used to be paper instructions. But low resolution.
It will probably cost you more than £20 to have the LNB changed, Sky if they will do it have a standard charge of about £65.

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q
If you are sure that cancelling SKY is your best option then I hope that they will agree to re-isntating a Universal LNB for you.
I know SKY Q can be quite a culture shock and indeed there are a few things never implemented - the famous Reminders being the one raised here the most - the one I still miss after around 5 years is Bookmarks in recordings
There are also a few niggles (the inconsistency of Continue section being probably my biggest)
Personally I would really miss some of the content (probably my most watched being Alibi)
Almost all other functionality is there & whilst not as intuiitive as SKY HD it is there and some feautures such as Voice control & the bluetooth connection of the remote much better
If you do change your mind - which I guess is unlikely - we can assist you to find out how to do things .- as mentioned most functions are there but may be different to the way you are used to

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q
I got on to Sky this morning, went through all the security stuff
Got through to various teams, had to repeat securty every time
I got through to canellations and they put the phone down on me each time
So it was start again
I eventually got someone to talk to
I am in contract until next year with my Sky TV (that I understand )
They wont take the Sky Q box back, they wont change the LNB back so I can use my FreeSat box or r the refurbished Sky+HD box
So I am paying for Sky Tv which I cant use, I have a satalite dish on the side of my house which does nothing
I have had Sky Q for less than 24 hours and I can do nothing now
I keep getting told by cancellations there is nothing they can do, they cant change the LNB and cant take the Sky Q box back
I was on the phone for 1 1/2 hours, and spoke to so many different people, who put me on hold nearly every time
So where do I go from here ?

From what I understand there is nothing wrong with your Sky Q box or your Sky dish, you have just stated you can't get on with it.

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q
Hi @Derrick241 If you are that determined to leave, pay the early termination fees. Life is too short. Get a local satellite installer to change the LNB. Sky Q has been dumbed down to the lowest intellect for the maximum number of users. I believe quite rightly they got rid of the random colour keys did something and replaced it with a clear menu system. Unfortunately some people learned and liked the random shortcuts and find it difficult to change.

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q
You not liking it doesn't mean it "does nothing"
But I'm surprised this isn't covered by distance selling regs and mandated cooling off periods.

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q
Thjere are no early termination fee, you just carry on paying every month
Sky Q was offered to me as I am a VIP, they told me how benificial it was too my, they mnever told me about anything that was diferent compared to the HD box
There is nothing wrong with Freesat, it did the same as my HD box
No I dont like change especially if its several steps back (I'm still using Windows 7, because it works)
SKY even said it doesnt have the same as a HD box

I think you'll find it fine after a week or two. There are a lot of things on it which are much better than HD, in spite of the bits they didn't carry across.
Having said that, some of those benefits are dependent on having a UHD TV.

@Derrick241 the more recent Sky tv contracts don't allow you to cancel early and pay termination fees. Even if Sky allowed it, the termination fee would equate to what you'll pay over the remaining term anyway.
I'm unclear why the 31 day cooling off period doesn't apply, however, unless you agreed to waive that right when you ordered. Might be something to investigate.

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q
I have a 70 inch LG HD TV, Yes it is a UHD TV, give a great picture, but that only depends on what is being broadcast
Some of the comments here havent really helped, I'm of a mind, if you have nothing usefull to say, say nothing

Not an area I'm expert in but when SKY introduced the 'no reversion to SKY HD' policy a while back, I thought they would let people cancel their contract with SKY even mid term during an initial cooling off period if it was clear that SKY Q was not suitable for them
Thus I would definitely query this as it is clear SKY Q is not for you @Derrick241

Re: Can I go back to sky HD+ after getting Sky Q
Nigea99
The cooling off peiod is 14 days, I have had it for less than 24 hours
SKY Q might be okay for some people and not for others (its not for me)
Even if I just leave the box under my unit and dont use it, I still pay for it monthly, the nsame as if I use my Fresat bax, I'm still paying for Sky TV until the end of my contact (next year)
