Hi,
Over the last few months I have been having constant issues with my Sky Q box maintaining connection via WIFI. The box will drop connection every 10-15mins for anything between a few seconds to a few minutes.
These problems started a few months ago, and no other devices are affected, only the Sky Q box. An engineer has been out and verified the WIFI signal strength etc and confirmed there should be no issues. He replaced the Sky Q box but the problem persists.
I am using EE broadband.
Connecting the Sky box directly to the router via ethernet cable is impractical due to the locations of each. What I would like to try is using a WiFi repeater close to the sky box and connecting from the repeater to the sky Q box via ethernet to see if this resolves my issue.
Unfortunately I can't seem to get the sky q box to recognise the wired connection. Is this possible and if so does anyone have any ideas how to go about it.
Thanks, Rob.

Hi @RobJ1978
Did you connect it to the Q box as follows:-
On main Q box and first carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router (or Sky router if on Sky Broadband). Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection. If you have no mini boxes on WiFi as soon as it connects go immediately into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.
If you have minis on WiFi you need to leave the main box WiFi on

Hi @RobJ1978
What breed is the Booster and how have you connected it to your router?
Assume it isn't a Sky Q WiFi booster?

Re: Can I connect Sky Q box to Repeater via ethernet cable?
Hi,
It not a sky booster. It just a no name Amazon repeater I use to extend the WIFI into my garage. To be fair it doesn't a decent job of that.
I connects to my EE router without issues. As it has an ethernet port I thought I could try running a cable between the booster and the sky q box to see if it solved my issues but clearly it's not as simple as that.

Re: Can I connect Sky Q box to Repeater via ethernet cable?
I had a similar experience doing this with a mesh node. Didn't work first time, tried again a few weeks later and it was fine. Been great for years ever since.
