Bad sound levels on TV programes and film.

What can I do about the bad sound levels in TV programes and films. Dialogue is mosly over-powered by background music and special effects. If you increase the sound level for dialogue you get deafened by the music.

Surely Sky have the power to get programe makers to improve the sound quality to a acceptable level, so why don't they.

Hi @Dave+Gahan

Assuming you have HDMi direct from Q box to TV have you tried the different Audio Options.

Home - Settings - Setup - Audio Visual

hi @Dave+Gahan

What are you listening via - is it your TV or a Sound bar or an AV AMp ?

What setting are you using for the Sound  - Normal, Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital +  ?

Although it may not be the case, what you describe is possibly using DD with equipment not able to properly produce the centre speech channel

Personally I rarely, if ever, have problems with the levls but I use a separate Amp and have a full set of speakers (7.1.2 if that means anything)

Re: Bad sound levels on TV programes and film.

Let me help out a bit. I have recently been watching Dexter - Original Sin on Skyshowtime, and the men in the serie, especially Michael Hall's voice is extremely bassy. I recently started watching Dexter, the original series on Netflix, and the sound is fine. Miechal Hall does have a bassy voice in the original Dexter series too obviously, but when I fixed and recalibrated my 5.1 home cinema speakers with a calibration microphone, it was fine on Netflix, but still bassy on Skyshowtime.
