Spoken to sky, despite quoting the information above they didn't admit there could be an issue with the ES240 and iPlayer however after showing that all the options were correctly enabled and the box was up to date they did agree to send out an engineer
This of course is a waste of time, unless the engneer has a V3 box to swap
I really do think you would be better just using the TV's app

Very true however I much prefer to have everything in the same ecosystem and the TV OS can be rather slow and irritating. When you are paying £100 for an upgrade you don't expect it to be 8 year old tech being provided when they have never models available.
The V3 boxes are not much younger & really the iPlayer is the only difference & possibly a very slightly quicker interface but I have never noticed my V2 to be noticably slow (although this may be partly due to the fact, as mentioned, I don;t use it for apps as my other tech is better for these)

@Kelewan100 this really has nothing to do with Sky the V2/ES240 box is UHD/HDR compatible with HLG the HDR version the the BBC uses. Its the BBC that decide which equipment is compatible for iplayer, with UHD/HDR there are many TV's that are capable of UHD/HDR but the BBC haven't added them as compatibvle for the Iplaye,r only the BBC will be able to tell you how they decide which equipment is compatible or not
So really getting an engineer out will be a complete waste of time as there will be nothing they can do.
As all sky Q equipment is loaned to you then the chances are that any new customers now will get a refurbished box anyway and it does seem the latest 2TB boxes ES340 are in short supply the latest boxes were released in 2019 where as the ES240's were released in 2017

I had a v2 and switched to a v3 and it was slightly speedier, but I would 100% agree with your recommendation to use the apps on your TV instead. I found them to be much quicker, more reliable and had more HDR options than any of the apps on Sky Q.
Sky Q is really getting on a bit now and is an excellent satellite PVR, but a pretty mediocre streamer.

Thank you everyone for your comments saying I'm wasting sky's time that's really helpful 👏
I purchased the UHD q box because I wanted to stream 4k content through it mostly iplayer instead of using the native TV OS which we don't like and importantly the other half won't use as she will only use the qbox
The issue is I was sold an expensive uhd box which I was told would be able to stream iPlayer in 4k and Ive been searching for the solution which I now have found thanks to the previous commenters and hopefully the engineer will be able to resolve by switching the box to one that my family can use.
and enjoy.

We are just pointing out that an engineer may not (or is that more than likely won't) have a V3 2TB box with them and as @Laing1 mentions they seem quite thin on the ground.

Be persistant with the technician, like I was. Chances are you don’t need 2TB of storage, I never get close to 1TB, so be prepared to accept a 1TB box to get a V3, and get them to check the number on the box is 32B206. That worked for me and the more people that push thus way the more Sky will get the message

Thanks Dave, I shall try. I'll explain it all to the engineer and hopefully will be quite simple from there.

You can use iPlayer in 4k, just not HDR I think? It's a weird omission for sure either way.
by the way, you probably know this but you haven't purchased / been sold anything - it is still Sky's property.
Good luck with the engineer. Though I think v3 boxes are like hen's teeth these days

Thanks yes I'm aware I've paid £100 for a "install' that I install myself, always found that odd not sure how that works if I wanted to return the UHD box but I assume it means I wouldn't be entitled to a refund but not sure on that one really.

You won't get a penny back... it's a one-off 'admin' charge that is non-returnable/non-refundable.
