Has anybody else had both the above channels showing everything (except ads) in 4:3, despite some programmes being made in widescreen, like River Monsters which has just finished on ITV4+1.

Just got back from work and checked it.
ITV3+1 and ITV4+1 are back to normal and are broadcasting in 16:9.
Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to reply, it's appreciated.

Could you check your tv settings and see if aspect ratio is set to automatic, if it is, see if you can change it to 16:9 hopefully this fixes it

Hi @questfind
If the 4:3 content has the black bars at the side then these are added by the broadcasters to retain the 4 : 3 Aspect.
This content will only show with the black bars.

Rivermonsters was released in 2009, well after 16:9 was the new standard, I would say it's his TV settings. Happens to mine sometimes.

That's why I asked if it had the black bars @ThePope27
Most if not all of the +1 channels are only in SD.
If the broadcaster adds the black bars the picture will not stretch to Widescreen

Just checked the aspect ratio on the TV settings and it was set to automatic. Took a while to find the handset, it's never used.
Despite changing this to 16:9, it made no difference.
ITV4+1 is currently showing the film The Krays. It's a widescreen film, but is playing in 4:3, but you can tell they're all squished and it should be playing corrrectly.
On ITV4 The Krays is on and looks fine. No black bars, and it is displaying fine.
This has only just happened, everything was fine up until a few days ago. I'm sure if the programme/film was made in widescreen, it should play as made, and not in 4:3.
Everyone's looking a bit tall and thin.
The ads are in 4:3.

I can confirm it's a tvheadend issue, I've put ITV4+1 on also and it's in 4:3, and when I open Sky Q tv guide it's in normal 16:9,
So that confirms it, it's not just you facing the issue.

I love it when broadcasters really try and look after their viewers, world class customer care.
Surely this would be an easy fix?
