Thank you for that reply.. I did not understand what you posted and apologies.
As I have said before I am hopeless with modern technology. I hope this was just just a one off.
This was the first time I had seen that pop up on the top right hand corner saying ' Dramatisation'. I still do not understand what it means.
When I pressed on it, it seemed to be showing something completely different from the live news I was watching on BBC 1 at 10pm. Unlike with the Ultra HD pop up, pressing the back up button did not seem to get rid of it but eventually it disappeared. It was also on the top right hand corner of the screen unlike the Ultra HD pop up which is always on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. From memory it was also a small red line and not a red circle
Have other posters had this or is this a one off and I still do not understand what it means and what it had to do with the live news.
It's not a technical thing. It wasn't a sky message, or something you could press the button for, it was a bbc label telling you that what you were watching wasn't a real video of events, but a dramatisation.
so when you pressed the red button it brought up some random unrelated default sky service.
I can confirm @Chodley ' reply - I have just played back last night's news and in fact it isn't actually a red button but a red vertical bar at the end of the Dramatisation label

Thank you all for your replies
Summary
The Dramatisation red line which came up on BBC News at 10pm last night on the top right of the screen. When you clicked on the red line you could see a drama relating to one of the news items.
I hope that is correct. Very annoying because when I pressed the back up button it did not disappear and one just had to wait before it disappeared.
By the way. Did anyone else see this on the BBC news at 10pm last night. As I said, I have never seen this before.

No @middlesex1993 it was not an interactive button - just an on screen graphic.
On the BBC the 'red button' on your remote appears to be always active taking you to an Iplayer Menu
Edit : As I press the Red Button currently on BBC1 the first entry it shows is for a programme called 'A Union With David Olusoga' which is not the current programme being shown - the menu also lists other programmes including Eastenders

As I said I have never seen this before until last night. So it must be new. I also was not able to get rid of it.
if it happens again, does anyone know how you get rid of it.

The Red Bar you saw was just a red bar - it was not a button - it was just a graphic used to highlight the message saying Dramatisation
It is, perhaps, unfortunate that they decided to use something that could be confused with the Red button
As per my previous post it appears that you can press the red button on (probably) any BBC programme to activate an interactive menu at anytime - whether or not they display a message saying or a 'red button' to indicate it is active

If the red line come up again, how do you get rid of it?
As I say I have never seen this red line before until last night.

@middlesex1993 You can't get rid of it. It's part of the program.

it was nothing special - think of it like a message such as 'Live from the Conference' or like a Presenter's name being put on screen at the bottom of the screen.
The red line was probably just used to draw your attention to the message such as an underline might do
There is nothing you can do about it - it is part of the broadcast

As I say. Last night was the first time I ever saw this. I sincerely hope this is not a regular occurrence. It will drive me mad.

It's been a common thing on TV for years when they do news docus etc.
whether it ever had a red line next to it in the past or not, I have no idea. Just a design / layout choice by BBC.
But it wasn't a red button icon. If it doesn't look like a button, it's not a button.

I must confess that I am not a Sky employee or a super user, I have no idea what tech my Sky box or tv have ( I should probably leave at this point, as I am not sure that I am qualified to comment), either way, any pop up notification is an unwarranted intrusion and should not happen unless the subscription paying user wants that. I am guessing that non Sky employee contributors will tell me that this is how tv is evolving, but I am telling you no! I do not want it and I will cancel my subscription, if this is the future. I would rather watch 50p dvd's from a charity shop, rather than being told by you, or the bbc, or whoever how, when, what or why I should watch something, or not. Respect choice and respect your customers. Do not bite the hand that feeds you.

Please note that you are not talking to Sky, this is a 'user helps user' forum.

If you're talking about the original topic of this thread, did you miss the bit where they said it was a mistake and they'd fixed it?
