Am I paying too much?

My wife is the bill payer and she keeps complaining about the bills going up.. We're paying £158 per month (including £50 broadband), so our TV packages come to about £108...

Thing is, last September they kept going up as well, so I called customer services to see what they could do and they said they could get the bill down by reconfiguring our packages..  but it still seems to be going up (everything is currently in contract too!)

I can't find any info on what the configuration actually does though - for example - Sky Sports - then we have a Sky Sports HD upgrade, then we have a Sky HD Upgrade AND an Ultra HD upgrade..  do we really need the HD upgrades if we're also upgrading to UHD??

It's a rhetorical question of course, but why do they make it so damned difficult to understand the bill and the services you're paying for?
I tried to remove items before and they said if I remove items, it'll actually increase the bill because of the associated discounts..

Sky Sports is inclusive of HD - it's itemised but not removeable.  (You are not paying extra for it, per se, as it's an inclusive price for Sports)  Sports will be in HD regardless of other HD status.

The HD pack upgrades Sky channels to HD (Free-to-air channels are in HD without it).   UHD is an additional option (which upgrades sports/movies and downloads to UHD) - HD is a pre-requisite for UHD.

So if you want Sports in UHD then your bill will show HD, Sports HD and UHD...

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
