A box not turning in from standby

Hi. This is the second time of asking. 
my Q box won't come on from standby and requires unplugging and reconnecting to the power every day. Programmes do not record and when checked the failed recording message shows there was a power failure. Presumably this was with the box as the power supply has not been interrupted 

I had a message to say I hand been invited to chat with an expert. I used the chat facility generated by the speaker h bubble in the reply. No one replied to me and now I cannot get back Into the chat facility. How about offering a phone number. Getting annoyed and frustrated now. Not getting the service I am paying for.

Hi @GavinSpencer   Unfortunately all telephone numbers are blocked in the community. Try following the diagnostics for your equipment.

Hi i appreciate that. However I'm not getting my issue fixed and I'm paying money still. Not a very good way of offering customer service.  Having a number for sky would be very helpful.

Hi @GavinSpencer   You do know that this is not Sky customer services, it is a public community forum. However I will escalate you again to Sky. Did the diagnostics identify any issues with your particular box?

Hi @GavinSpencer   I hope you don't mean simply stop paying but cancel your contract by giving 31 days notice and ending cleanly. Sky don't care about destroying your credit rating and passing on your debt to a credit agency.

Hi @GavinSpencer 

The last thing you want to do is withhold payment.  Do this and Sky will refuse all support and contact until payment has been made.   It can also affect your Credit rating.


If you need to contact them you need to persevere by phone.

Regarding your issue

Have you tried pressing the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the Q box.
If this turns the Q box on
With the Q box on with green led try completly resetting your Bluetooth remote.
Press and hold 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair to TV.


Q messages to failed recordings are usually erroneously stated as either a software fault or power cut.  Both are normally false.


Try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Resetting the settings will also reset:

Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.
