2 receivers on the same scr communal dish

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Godfrey

@nigea99

Currently  have sky q set up on a communal scr dish. Details below

Sky q default transponder

            Signal strength  70

            Signal quality      90

            Power i assume to lnb 65% (i think thats what the sky engineer said)

And i want to use my integrated lg tv satellite receiver in conjunction with sky q. Which works perfectly on the scr set up

Are the above details sufficient to run them with just a lnb splitter.

Or would i need a satellite signal amplifier and some sort of power inserter to boost the power to lnb

Many thanks 👍

I am afraid I will have to leave this one to @Godfrey

I know this would not work with a personal  wideband LNB but I have no idea if the signals from the Sat TV (using a  voltage switch & tone  to switch polorisations & bands) alongside  a dSCR feed would intefere with each other

I look forward to seeing the response that I am sure  @Godfrey    will provide when he has chance

(edit : P.S. I wish I knew more about dSCR feeds)

@cookiemonsteruk   Unfortunately the single output port of the communal dSCR that is providing your SCR feed can only be instructed to use one set of 'User Bands' outlined in either EN50494, a standard EN50607 configuration, the UK Sky Q configuration, or it will supply the Universal LNB satellite transponder frequencies by default.

Your Sky Q receiver requires the dSCR output port to be instructed to use the Sky UK SCR configuration, whereas your LG television satellite tuner is going to be configured to use either the default Universal LNB transponder frequencies , or if it has a Single Cable Router capability, it will unfortunately be configured to use the 'User Bands' outlined in a standard EN50607 configuration.

If both satellite receivers were using the same SCR 'User Band' configuration you could have used a 'Smart Splitter' like the Johansson 4603 device.

Re: 2 receivers on the same scr communal dish

@Godfrey  I would really appreciate your help please am pulling my hair out and spent some money but can't get the configuration to work.

I have a Sky-Q Box which has been changed from Wideband to SCR mode and I've got a GT-SAT GT-s3dcss24.

I've used the chart which you provided for the Sky UK bands which I've programmed using a GT-dC02 it goes from user band 1-24 but I am not able to put in user nand 25,26.

Legacy feeds work fine no issues at all signal is very strong but the receiver still says No Satellite Signal.

I've take the receiver to a friend's house and tried it on Wide band and it works no issues am thinking it can only be a faulty LNB.

I have used a analyser tool and had someone look at the transponder information and signals are really weak and in the spectrum the signal is not reading in Sky-Q but looks like Legacy.

Thanks Sham

Re: 2 receivers on the same scr communal dish

My setup is slightly different mate if you look am not sure if it can be done or not as it's for my mum and dad I just don't understand why the Sky-Q Box still says No Satellite Signal. The cable is connected to the dscc port on the LNB.

@Shammy7861

Sorry about my earlier post where I misread what you had written.

You probably have but just in case, after resetting the SKY Q box into SCR mode did you power it down, as it needs a power down for the change to come into effect.

Re: 2 receivers on the same scr communal dish

Hi buddy,

Thanks for the response that had been done and the box has been reboot by hard pull 😞 still nothing.

I have literally had a couple of people look at it and had no luck I am not a expert but over the past couple of weeks and months learnt alot.

I am not sure as the LNB's are Unicable does changes the UK Sky Box to SCR not work because their is not a option to change it to Unicable.

hi @Shammy7861

Sorry but you probably do need @Godfrey 's expert advice on this.

A silly question but I have to ask - the SKY box is connected to the SCR port on the LNB rather than any of the legacy ports  isn't it ?

Re: 2 receivers on the same scr communal dish

Yes it is buddy and the Sky-Q UB have been programmed apart from the LN only goes upto UB 24 and my understanding is the chart goes upto 26 but don't think this should make  difference. The programmer detects everything is OK and no UB overlap or error.

Re: 2 receivers on the same scr communal dish

I defo need a who is a guru mate with this one I am going to get my friend to bring it Sky-Q Receiver and put it into SCR mode and see if that works.

Me being clever and trying to help my parents should have just bought a hybrid Wideband LNB might have to in I'm the end.

A few years ago I managed to manually program the parameters of the 16 User Bands that a Sky Q UK specification receiver requires into a GT-dLNB2T device which has the ability to offer up to 32 User Bands, thereby allowing UB 25  (1880 MHz) and UB 26 (1930 MHz) to be available, and turned off all the other User Bands.

I have absolutely no experience of attempting to get an LNB that only offers 24 User Bands, and specifically appears to have no ability to program UB 25 and UB26, but I am not surprised to learn that it does not work when feeding a Sky Q receiver with just 14 of the 16 specific User Bands outlined in the Sky UK specification.

@Godfrey Thank you for your support and help with this when I contacted GT-SAT they said it should work using the values below programing I've tried this also and had no luck.

 Please correct me if I am wrong so what your saying it all 16 UB need to be present in order for it to work.

I was assuming that is could be a faulty LNB which is why I does not work if you are free to chat will you please ping me your mobile number as a message.

Thanks Sham

@Godfrey Thanks so much for your support and help with this. Sorry correct me if am wrong your saying that all 16 UB need to be programed in order for it to work if 2 are missing it will not work.

I contacted GT-SAT and they advised to use the text file on their website which has the below values.

I tried that also and it was still the same.
