Sky Protection Pink Notice in Mail.

Recently received a pink letter purporting to be from Sky Protect. I recently bought a Car,  They had my name and address but little else except a phone number to call.  1-877-351-1210.  I CALLED.  A competent young man answer and he went through the deal which was an invitation to join.  I gave him my C C  details and he came back saying it was declined.  I check my card another way, there was ample money in my account,  but my bank said the payment was 'flagged' so they declined to pay.  Is this a Scam or just my over anxious bank?

@CharlesTK Why would you need to ring a USA number?

I think your bank may have done the right thing.

@CharlesTK

If you are in the UK then that sounds very much like a scam which is probably why your bank have declined the payment although like the above I am puzzled why you would call an American number ?

@CharlesTK  No UK based legitimate company would ask you to call a USA number, this is obviously some sort of postal scam and your bank was right in blocking a payment.

As others have asked why would you call an international number?  On your next phone bill from you provider you're likely also going to have to pay for this call too.

As well as blocking the payment now that a scammer has your card details I would suggest you cancel this card and get a new one issued.

@CharlesTK

Neither 'Sky Protection' operating out of Jacksonville FL or 'Sky Auto Protection' of Schaumburg IL is 'Sky Protect', a brand licenced by Sky Group to Domestic & General and Zurich in the UK (which don't offer car insurance under that name anyway)

Numerous companies around the world trade with 'Sky' in their business name: it's a common-use English-language word and not by itself capable of being trademarked.

There's a 'Sky Window Doctor' double-glazing repair service near us which probably isn't that  Sky either...

I am in the US and they do operate here, but an AI search said they think they do not operate in Florida where I am residing at the moment.  Hmm...

The community where you have posted is for a UK & Ireland TV, Broadband, Mobile provider and as per @TimmyBGood  is unrelated to any other company with a similar name based in the USA.

Sky Group has been an overseas division of the Comcast Corporation (headquartered in Philadelphia PA) since 2018 but has no operations in the USA itself and doesn't license its branding for any insurance companies there: it would be pointless doing so as the brand name associated with satellite television for forty years here has no particular significance outside Europe.

'Sky Protection' is not 'Sky Protect': the communication you received is entirely unrelated to the UK device and home insurance products discussed in this forum.
