Sky Protect doorbell notifications always delayed

Now that my problem with being logged out of the Sky Protect app has been resolved, I thought I might as well mention my other issue.

The notifications typically arrive quite late, a couple of minutes after the camera has activated and sometimes longer. The same happens when someone rings the doorbell - I don't get any notification until long after they've wandered off. This is a particular problem because the doorbell itself, even at maximum volume, is quite quiet, and because it has to be physically connected to the router I don't have any choice about where to site it. As a result I miss most visitors and deliveries unless I'm in the same room as the doorbell when they press it.

Is it possible to get a doorbell that doesn't need a physical network connection, or some additional wireless doorbells to put elsewhere in the house?

Sky doesn't currently offer any such option with their kit.

As the chime is connected over ethernet cable, I guess it might  be possible to run it over a Powerline network adaptor link (if longer ethernet isn't practical)

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)

Re: Sky Protect doorbell notifications always delayed

I have the same problem with the delayed notification. By time I get alerted on my phone there is a delay which means the person has wondered off and sometimes the video camera doesn't even seem to caputure the person in shot. Can Sky please advise on what they know about the problem and what you are doing to address it?

Same issue here. If I'm out, my phone only gets notified once they have left so no point having the chat function if there's no one there to chat to.

Re: Sky Protect doorbell notifications always delayed

Hi,

I am encountering a recent issue whereby there is a delay between the doorbell being pressed and the chime sounding. I have specifically setup a node near the front door where the chime connects via Ethernet cable. The Node gets its signal from one in the hallway and subsequently the main one in the living room.  Total distance is 3 metres.

I have on numerous occasions reboot the doorbell and chime and the whole network connection to ensure no WiFi channels were causing an issue, to no avail.

At this point, looking to sack off this doorbell and just get a Ring / Blink doorbell and camera.

Re: Sky Protect doorbell notifications always delayed

After multiple attempts to set up the chime and doorbell, then after contacting support I received a replacement chime and doorbell, then further frustrating cycles of set up and pairing it eventually connected and I now have video from the doorbell to my Samsung phone.

BUT the response delay of minutes between visitor pressing doorbell and phone App notifications means they have no answer and leave !!..And for security it is pointless as again anything that happens is notified after it is all over and gone.

Also it does not appear I can get the phone to 'ring' when doorbell is pushed, I just get notification many minutes later.

This SKY package compares badley against RING which set up in minutes and works faultlessly.

Maybe not 'Smart' enough myself to wrestle with this technology.
