After a recent fault, following advice from Community members, I arranged for a local company to check my installation and it was found that the cable between the dish and my Sky + HD box was faulty. The cost for testing and replacement was £84.
I phoned Sky Protect and was passed around between different people at one point after various holds and transfers I eneded back where I started.
Is satellite cabling covered by Sky Protect, If yes how can I claim it?
If no what am I paying my money for?

Fair comment, but in my defence, when I originally spoke to Sky Protect, the only option mentioned was swapping my HD box for a Q box.
Ah well lesson learned.

@George66 I may be wrong but if you have Sky protect devices insurance you should have contacted them to arrange an engineer to come out and sort your cable rather than contacting a third party to come out and sort it.
It's only If you dont have Sky protect then you do need to contact a third party engineer/installer yourself as Sky won't send one.

Re: Refund of money from Sky Protect for faulty cable replacement
Typically with insurance of any kind it's really important to contact the insurance company before employing or paying anyone: they usually won't entertain a retrospective claim, no matter how reasonable the amount.
For your Sky+ HD installation Sky almost certainly wouldn't have sent their own staff, but it appears they will make a financial contribution as long as that's arranged in advance of anything being done.
