I've had Sky Protect for just over one year and in the first month (Jun 23) they had problems taking the monthly payment (fault with their system) and said they wouldn't therefore take the payment retrospectively. Looking at my monthly payments now I see that no direct debit payment was taken May 24 for me. Has anyone else experienced the same? Is it another problem with Sky's system?

In the Sky Protect app there is a dedicated live help chat which can help diagnose the issue. You can find it by using the support button at the bottom of the "Help & Support" section within the app and then using the "Send us a message".
I hope it will get resolved soon!
