New build insurance

Moving to a new build bungalow and Sky won't insure me even though I have been with them over the last year and have not made a claim for 15 years plus, Why?

@JPOFSPALDING  No one here can tell you why as we have no insight into either your account or their reasons for not insuring you.

 

Perhaps it's time to look elsewhere?

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Sky isn't the underwriter, and Zurich (who are) can set whatever criteria they choose in offering cover and don't have to provide an explanation.

 

Quality control issues in new builds are unfortunately common, which may be a factor.

Other possibilities are that the address isn't on sales databases yet, or that (being new) there's no historical record for risk calculation software to work with.

 

We once moved to an area previously so notorious for crime that properties there were entirely uninsurable, and new postcodes had to be created once the old estates had been bulldozed.
