My doorbell is plugged into chime but not charging, I have switched on and off already.

My doorbell won't charge.  I have switched on and off already .  I have plugged into chime to charge .  Do I charge with the doorbell switched on or off ?

@Nina72 when I charge mine the doorbell is still switched on
