Genuine Call?

So, yesterday I had a caller who asked my name which I confirmed, and he said he was from Sky and asked me to conform basisc ID. He the asked for my Sky password, which I refused to give, and he then OK, and then went off trying to sell me equipment repair deals. Why did he ask for my password, I've never been asked for it on recept of a call, only when I've called them. He then said he did'nt need it any way? So why ask for it? I said no thanks to any offer, and cut him off.

The number was 0800 59***843. ( a popular number it seems). Was this a scam, or was he asking an inappropriate question?

Re: Genuine Call?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

If the call was from Sky Protect or even Sky themselves then the password he would be asking for was a telephone password and not one you use for your online access. I have always been asked for this when I have spoken to Sky over the phone so they should be asking for it as it should be something that only you as the account holder would know.

Re: Genuine Call?

I just received a similar call asking for my password I said I couldn't remember it. They then asked for my mother's maiden name so I hung up
