Re: Doorbell

I've had exactly the same problem on a number of occasions it's now taken about months still not fully resolved with Sky. They're now blaming it on a poor Wi-Fi signal. However I paid extra to have a stronger Wi-Fi and the engineer stated that were my router is is the best place for the best signal in the house my doorbell is about 9 m away from the router

The video doorbell will not care where your router is as it makes contact only with The Chime ( the Chime is connected by Ethernet to your router), so the doorbell close to the Chime is the reach point to check.

@Tinw You do realise you are not contacting Sky's customer services on here, this is a customer to customer forum where customers help each other.

Re: Doorbell

Just wanting to add to the general sentiment here in case anybody from Sky does actually read this.

I get about 5 days of battery life, with motion sensing totally disabled and an activity zone set.

Had to buy a Powerline adapter to get ethernet near the front door so I could connect the chime within range of the doorbell (just on the other side of the front door), and even then the signal isn't fantastic according to the apps signal strength check.

When it does work, notifications do not include pictures or anything like they do for Ring or for Google Home, meaning you always have to open the app. Even then, tapping the notification on iOS doesn't seem to actually take you in to the event in the app - it just takes me to the home screen and then I have to select the doorbell and then select the doorbell pressed event.

The picture from the doorbell is blown out entirely if it's sunny too.

Overall, don't expect the Protect doorbell to replace Ring or Google Home. I'd r3commend going for the normal insurance without the "smart tech" and saving a few £££.

Re: Doorbell

After several months i have received confirmation from Sky concerning the tech kit I returned. They refunded me only £75 as they claim that's what is worth and not the £250 stated in the adverts. I queried this and was given 2 options. Take it ir leave it. 😡

Re: Doorbell

I bought a mesh network, plug the chime into one of the pods, and have the doorbell close to the chime. That, finally, solved the drain issue for me. I now get many months of battery from the doorbell.

caveat: I only use the doorbell as a camera in the garage (has amazing night view, BTW) so it's not getting any actual use as a doorbell.

@Rosie65  How many bars of signal show on your doorbell? The less the signal the more power drain happens.

If someone has helped give them Like.

If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.

Hi

I've read loads of suggestions to help battery life and how to improve charge speeds.  In my opinion, the design is not up to scratch, unless it was designed to be sub-standard.

I've given up and got bought a different solution from Ring.

I am disappointed in these solutions from SKY
