Re: Doorbell

Has anyone been able to return their kit early, without penalty?

I'm going to try. It's clearly not fit for purpose, and it's just a massive pain in the neck now

Re: Doorbell

I thought I'd visit here before paying for sky connect and I'm glad I did. I currently have a wired ring doorbell so it never needs charging. Think I'll wait until sky do a wired doorbell before I buy.

Note that the Smart Tech Bundle is a 'free' give-away offered as an incentive to take out a particular Zurich-underwritten building and contents insurance product: the doorbell and other kit is not a purchase by the user or a hardware sale by Sky.

'Sky Connect' is (or rather was) the branding used for the Sky business broadband product.

Re: Doorbell

Do I have to set the "Active Zone" on the sky video doorbell to be able to record approaching cars/people? Currently only getting video from right in front of house!!

I am finding it difficult to get accurate video after I have set the active zone and wondered if I turn this off the video would record exactly what approaches from further away.

many thanks.

Every house door/path or drive is going to be different.

You do not have to have the activity zone enabled.

But, the activity zone comes into play to reduce a lot of passing traffic on a nearby road and movement of passing movement on a nearby pavement. When all you really want to capture is movement on your own path or drive towards your front door.

Is best to combine this also with tweaking the clip recording settings. But be aware that changing the recording length and recordings between clips will increase battery use.

Re: Video Doorbell review?

I have recently installed sky protect video door bell and I can say without biased its worth £19 month the only problem I have with it is getting used to the chime for motion detection as the chime goes off when someone goes past the detection zone but it has given me peace of mind knowing if I'm out and a delivery is due I will know when they have been at my door and I know that my packages will be safe being left at my door and it self arms when u leave ur property

Re: Doorbell

I have set the active zone, however, it seems to only work when it wants to- so not sure whether there is something fundamentally wrong with the unit. When it works the quality and clarity is very good but I do not like the unpredictable nature of this doorbell camera.

Re: Video Doorbell review?

I now only set the motion detector at night. The battery now lasts about 7 days before needing a recharge

The charge for the doorbell should last about a month.

Make sure you charge from the Chime, using the usb supplied usb lead, best doing a charge overnight or about 8-10 hours in total.

Have found the activity zone to be pretty accurate with mine.

Might be worth trying slightly extending or reducing the zone, or making sure that something within the zone is not restricting its capture, like too much direct sunshine light perhaps fogging up or confusing the area at times. Have seen that with other makes of doorbell cameras in the past.

Re: Doorbell

The reset sort of works now but I am still getting the odd video where people are at the door instead of approaching.

Re: Video Doorbell review?

I most certainly wouldn't bother, it's rubbish!!! My door bell says it needs to update but fails everytime...it now has orange light and is stuck on. Won't reboot, fully charged. Sky support with these products is equally as rubbish.

Re: Doorbell

I've taken all my protect stuff out, total rubbish. I'm just glad I didn't actually part with £250!!!
