Decided Home insurance

after being a loyal customer for last 8 years unbroken though actually used sky from 2000 after digital switch over to Astra salilite . Was declined home insurance for contents of 1 bedroom apartment. Seems really awful as gotten quotes for similar things from other insurance companies. Not impressed by SKY actually thinking about returning to streaming on VPN's as everyone else is .

Sky is not an insurance company: they are acting as a regulated 'introducer' and licencing some copyright branding.

Insurance cover branded using the 'Sky' name is provided by either Domestic & General ( Sky Protect Device Insurance) or Zurich (Sky Protect Home Insurance and Sky Protect Smart Home Insurance) and it is those companies, as licensed underwriters, who offer or decline cover: Sky has no involvement in that process and subscriber history with Sky has no influence on the calculation being made.

Incidentally, threatening to obtain goods or services through dubious means is probably not particularly advisable when attempting to negotiate insurance cover or any other legally binding contract.

I'd also note the pages linked above specifically say:

At the moment, we can’t cover everyone for their home insurance. Getting a quote could depend on a few things. Such as your claims history. The size of your property. Or the area where you live. It could be for those reasons that we can’t cover you right now. But as we continue to grow, we aim to make Sky Protect available to more and more people. So, even if you can’t get a quote today, make sure you check again in future.
