iphone 13 will receive emails but will not send them

When trying to send an email I get an error message saying "Cannot send mail" "No password provided for SMTP" It then tells me to go to Mail Account Settings and enter a password. I've tried putting my password in to no avail and tried changing the password but it hasn't made any difference. I ought to say at this point that I'm a bit of a technophobe and haven't got a clue what I'm doing!

If it makes a difference I have a Lebara sim in it but I think this issue predates me switching to Lebara. I have recentley collected my new car and my phone will not connect to the Halo Pro dash cam system nor will it connect to the "ismart" app to "bind" the vehicle, this despite the technicians at the dealership being able to connect to their phones without issue.

I was of the opinion that it must be something to do with phone settings and/or the Lebara sim. Any help would be much appreciated!

Who is your email account with ?

Sorry, should have put that in the original post! It's Sky/Yahoo,

Try selecting "Other" as the email provider and then generating a 16 digit password here:

Sorry I'm a bit slow at getting back to you caesarome, appreciate your help, what I'm seeing on my phone doesn't match up with the steps to follow when I generated the password, I get to step 4 and tap on yahoo mail account, that's ok but step 5 says tap on yahoo mail address but it isn't showing on that page! I've clicked account settings and that shows outgoing mail server but no password area

I know I asked you this before but as you keep saying Yahoo I'm still not clear if you email address is a Sky.com one or a Yahoo.com one ?

My email address is a sky.com but all my emails come in to a yahoo inbox

I believe sky moved them across to yahoo some years ago

And by this do you mean you login to your email account at Yahoo.com or are you using the Yahoo email app or are you just using the standard email app on your iphone ?

Success! I was using the standard email app on the phone, however, with you mentioning a yahoo app I downloaded it, logged in, and lo and behold I've sent an email! Brilliant! Thank you so much for your help.

You could either create an app specific password & use that under incoming & outgoing servers or delete the account, set up the account & choose Yahoo, enter your Sky email address which will then take you to a confirmation page authorising the connection to use your log in details.

Thank you twilight princess, I have downloaded the yahoo mail app and that does seem to have sorted it, at least I can send emails from it
