iPad and IPhone Sim

I have just received my iPad with a new Sim however I want to be able to use the same number for both iPad and iPhone.  Can I have two sims linked to the same number and if so how do I go about sorting this out?

Only one sim per number. It's not possible to have both on two devices. 

so you'll need two sims and two separate numbers.
