I travelled to china last month and never used any data. I've now viewed my bill and you have charged me £45 which I refuse to pay for data I have not used .

Hi @ICECUBE1137 unless you turned roaming off and mobile data off before leaving the UK, doing it in China would be too late, then your phone will have connected and used data and will have triggered the charge. If you did turn everything off before leaving the UK then you will need to call sky to dispute the charges but I wouldn't bank on them being sympathetic.

Re: You have charged me £45 for data when I've travelled to china.. I never used any data when I arr
If your device was correctly configured to not connect to local cellular networks then they couldn't charge you.
As a 'rest of world' location it's £2.16 per MEG of data - so £45 would be spent in a matter of seconds simply from phone 'chatter'.
Refusing to pay won't end well as your account will be restricted and your credit record potentially marked as such.
You need to call Sky on 150 to challenge it but it would seem your device did connect to a cellular service (if it didn't then you cannot be charged).

So you turned mobile data off before you left the UK, did you make any phone calls while you were in the country ?

Thank you both for replying. No I did not make any calls whilst in china. As soon as I got a text while in Shanghai detailing the charges I turned my data off. Tbh I'm not interested in sky being sympathetic or not they will not be getting paid the £45. It's there choice and if they don't lift the charge I will simply goto a different provider. Thanks for the help

Turning data off will be too late.
From what you've said the charge is correct. Whether you can convince Sky to implement goodwill is another matter but remember they have incurred the charge from the overseas network.
Note my warning about withholding payment - if could be extremely 'costly'...

Whilst it's up to you what you do @ICECUBE1137 it does sound like you incurred the charges, albeit accidentally, and if sky won't remove the charges then you would be liable to pay them. Moving network won't remove that liability and Sky will refer it to a credit agency if you don't pay. That will lead to many problems further down the line when trying to get credit anywhere else.
