Why do I need a new sim for new unlimited deal?

I've just taken advantage of the new £10 unlimited data deal for VIP customers. But rather than adjust my existing details I'm being sent a new sim. Does this mean I need to transfer numbers and what happens to my old sim ? I don't want to pay for two sims.

If you read the terms these offers are for additional, new SIMs only - with a new phone number.

Sky are unlikely to apply the offer to your existing SIM.

If you want to keep your number then the only solution is to transfer that number out of the network and then back to the new SIM.  (You cannot use a PAC code within a network)

The unlimited deal applies to a new sim only so when you activate it you will be paying for a second one, this is explained on the page you ordered it from. As you can't directly move your current number to the new sim the work around is to transfer it via a pac code to a PAYG network then back again to the new sim.

Re: Why do I need a new sim for new unlimited deal?

This is helpful advice - thanks. It wasn't clear that I was starting a new contract (with new sim, tel no. etc) when I ordered the package - which is annoying. I think the best course of action is to cancel the contract within the cooling off period.

I've look at the contract emailed to me and it says I need to wait for the terms and conditions (which presumably will arrive with the new sim by post?). Do you know if I cancel the contract before then ? Thanks

When you receive this sim if you do not activate it then it will be automatically cancelled so you should not be charged for it. If you have activated it then you will need to call Sky on 150 to ask them to cancel it.

I'm not sure how you saw/ordered this offer but looking in my VIP section of the app it clearly says, "...when taking a new plan".

And clicking on 'Terms and Conditions' says, "...when purchasing a new data plan".
