Using mobile abroad for long period of time

I'm due to be working in Switzerland for 5 weeks and looking at what my best options are to still use my mobile data without having to spend £2 a day for the whole 5 weeks. Is there any deals I have missed or ways around this costing a fortune? I will still need to have my current phone number for work purposes so a second sim is not the most ideal option. Any suggestions?

@Chloe2311You have two realistic options: the first is using a local SIM, which you say isn't ideal, and the second is only using WhatsApp(or other internet-based services) via local WiFi for calls/texts and data.
