Travelling to Egypt
Hello, We are travelling to Egypt in early September, an just wanting to see what our options are as I believe Egypt is outside of the EU so the data isnt in the current mobile deal we have. So just wanting to know anyones thoughts on best options or is there a way to get our data on the deal? Thankyou

Re: Travelling to Egypt
Your best option would be to take the sim out of your phone before you leave the UK and use a local sim whilst you are in the country or only use Wifi and make sure that mobile data and roaming is turned off before you leave the UK if you are going to leave the Sky sim in it.

Re: Travelling to Egypt
If your phones were from Sky then they are unlocked as all mobiles from Sky are but whether a sim from a foreign country will definitely work I wouldn't like to say.

Re: Travelling to Egypt
I'd suggest a little research online may be advisable: for example it appears a passport and an address is required by local regulation (a hotel address will suffice) and there are warnings of scam operations in tourist hotspots, so a controlled environment such as an airport may be preferable as a venue to arrange such a transaction.
If your handset hardware has eSIM capability it's potentially possible to acquire a connection in advance that way.

Re: Travelling to Egypt
Are they unlocked even if you are in a contract with them?

Re: Travelling to Egypt
You have replied to a really old topic here so can you explain a bit more what you are asking ?
As said above all mobiles from Sky are unlocked so is this what you mean ?

Re: Travelling to Egypt
Being in a contract with Sky doesn't prevent you from using another sim or esim in the phone is all Sky cares about is that your bill is paid on time so what sim you do or don't use is of no concern to them.
As we said above we can not say for sure if a esim in another country will definitely work or not but in theory it should do.
