Switching to SKY mobile

Hello,

I want to take advantage of switching to SKY mobile and upgrade my phone (I am out of contract with current provider so do not have any charges to pay) however I am going abroad in the next three months so want to buy the phone and set up the contract I want (with SKY) but basically leave the phone in the box till I return (so staying with my current provider using my current phone and number) till I return from abroad then switch finally to SKY using my current number and close my account withmy current provider.  Is this possible?    I know I will start paying for the contract and tariff as soon as I agree to it, but I just want to know if I can do this without switching immediately.   Sorry if this is an odd question, I just need to be sure I can do this.  Thank you.

Re: Switching to SKY mobile

Yes, it's possible to buy the phone and set up the contract with SKY without immediately switching your service. Essentially, you can purchase the phone and activate the contract with SKY, but keep using your current provider and phone until you return from abroad.

During this period, you'll likely start paying for the contract and tariff as soon as you agree to it, even if you're not actively using the service. However, you won't need to switch your service or start using the new phone until you're ready.

Once you return from abroad and are ready to switch to SKY, you can then activate the service with them, port your current number over, and start using the new phone. You can also close your account with your current provider at that time.

It's always a good idea to double-check with SKY to confirm their specific policies and procedures for setting up a contract and delaying the activation of service until a later date. This will ensure that you have all the information you need and can proceed with confidence.

Hi @Liverbird1969  yes you can switch at anytime and port your number from your old network when you are ready. If you don't activate your new sky sim it may expire within the next month or two so you would then need to order a new one. If you activate it when you get it then that would get rid of that issue.
