Somebody has ordered two iPads on my account... Scam?

I think I've been hooked... I received a call about sending a SIM upgrade which sounded innocuous enough. They didn't require any informtation that Sky doesn't already have. I just changed my password and the scammer called immediately. I told him I'm not confirming anything with him and have reported as fraud, he then put the phone down. I just received another account password change request...

I am out of the UK at the moment in the US and struggling to call, but I have emailed.

I feel so stupid, is there anything else I can do?

@twoplustwo

They try to obtain sufficient details so that they can order an expensive mobile phone/tablet under your details which subsequently gets sent to your address. The scammers then recontact you saying they've made a mistake and to send it to a (non Sky) address. They then have the device and you have the bill.

With any unexpected calls from Sky if the caller asks for your telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which a genuine Sky agent should in my opinion) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it'll be a scam call.

Is there anyone at home who would potentially accept these devices? You need to advise them to NOT send them to any address not confirmed through official Sky contact.

Re: Somebody has ordered two iPads on my account... Scam?

Hey both, thanks for the reply, much appreciated. They've had access to my account for a few hours, I've since changed the password. They would not have been able to see my Direct Debit information. I've read those links cheers.

I see the orders in my history now. Am I able to cancel them?

You would need to call Sky asap. If you're still abroad see paragraph 2 on this link
