Sky stopped working whilst in Canada

Hi, I am on sky mobile in Canada, it worked for a couple of days but then stopped working in an area with good mobile coverage Tried the help pages when on wifi but nothing is working. My wife has the same issue, we are traveling around in some remote areas so it is difficult to get wifi. Anybody had. the same issues in Canada ? Thanks for any help. Sky suggest we call them which is not helpful if your phone is not working.

Hi, everyone.

 

For anyone currently in Canada facing the issues reported in this discussion, I'd recommend trying to follow these steps to see if this resolves the problem for you:

For Android devices:

 

  1. Go to the Sky Menu/SIM Toolkit app (automatically installed when the SIM is inserted).
  2. Select Roaming
  3. Select Sky Settings
  • If the device still shows SOS/No Service, manually select either Bell, SaskTel, or TELUS from the list of available networks (the method and location for this step may differ depending on the device).

For Apple devices:

 

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Tap on Mobile Service
  3. Tap on SIM Applications
  4. Select Roaming
  5. Select Sky Settings
  • If the device still shows SOS/No Service, manually select either Bell, SaskTel, or TELUS from the list of available networks shown under Mobile Service.

SOS in Canada

My husband is in Canada on business and is unable to connect to any networks. He has SOS at the top of his phone. I've contacted Sky from home on his behalf and they sent some troubleshooting, which has done nothing. Can anyone help as this is urgent.

I also have this problem since 5 May. I have had one day of data roaming then only SOS calls, have tried the troubleshooting process multiple times 😢

Hi @LLGG1  and @SamS3  if you are both having issues in Canada then it's likely an issue with the Canadian networks over which sky will have no control. If restarting the phones or turning flight mode off and on doesn't help and you have tried selecting different networks then I am not sure what else can try other than wait for the issue to be resolved. You could get a local PAYG sim to keep you going ?

It's just my husband who is in Canada on business, although he's unable to get any work done. His phone worked until day 2 then he was presented with the SOS message. He's never had an issue in Canada before..

I appreciate your suggestions but he should be able to use his phone overseas. 
Im hoping someone from Sky can give me their thoughts because if it's an issue with Sky, I'll be changing provider.

I've also got this problemt from Toronto. It seems to be an ongoing thing with sky their service aboard is terrible and they don't seem to do anything about it. This is like the third time in a year. It's getting disgraceful. They need to sort it out

Keep an eye out for an invite or blue chat bubble.

When the blue bubble does appear you have 48 hours to respond or it will be automatically closed.

I was having this problem and changing the settings in the Sky App menu has resolved the problem.

I have same issue on mine and my wife's phone. Been in Canada since 16  May and tried every suggestions. Sky "expert" gave up and said sims were ok. Absolutely useless and data roaming was only reason I used Sky. 
Terrible that not working but response from Sky is dreadful. Will be losing all my business.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried those options but still no joy. We are in a remote areas atm so this may be a factor as network coverage is poor. I have also bought a cheap esim package  for Canada which is also not working l. We are going to a more populated area later today so hopefully the esim will kickbin and I can bypass Sky due to the issues experienced. Thanks

I have exactly the same problem. Have been in Canada since 28th and cannot get network coverage. Phone just says SOS and despite following all instructions re airplane mode, data roaming and turning off and on again, still no coverage.
