Sky issued me with a new number rather than retaining my existing
I ordered a New sim. I asked to keep my number but Sky issued a new number instead. How can this be fixed?

If you order a new SIM then it has a new number.
If you want to keep your number simply use your existing SIM. (And cancel the new one)

The best way is to phone them and explain what's happened. It took 3 weeks for them to resolve this issue for me

As stated above, you just need to use the sim you have got and if you have activated the new one then call Sky on 150 to ask them to cancel it for you.

New dataplans have new numbers.
These are the only options if you want to keep the number:
1. Use existing dataplan/SIM (and cancel new one)
2. Call Sky and try and convince them to apply the new dataplan to the existing SIM (They may not do this)
3. Port the old number out of the network and back to the new SIM.

Thanks everyone. I called sky and hopefully it is resolved now. Will know in a couple of days when sim is activated using my original number. Will let you know how I get on.
