Sky declining credit check for no reason

I am trying to move to sky mobile but their credit check rejects me constantly. There is no reason as to why and I have checked with both companies they use. Both reports came back with perfect credit score for me. Yesterday Sky told me that my address could not be matched but both companies and Sky have the correct address and name for me. I am at a loss as to what to do! I have been with Sky internet for 6 years now. The customer service has no solution for the first time in 6 years. Please can someone help?

@Sonja3

If you're failing the checks there's nothing fellow customers here can do for you, See this link for Skys guidance ~
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/credit-checks-sky-mobile

Be aware that if you keep trying to order the device this could further impact your credit score. If you contact Sky they would be able to confirm that’s the reason your order was cancelled but not why you failed the credit check in the first place as they are not allowed to view your credit record.

Any upfront payment you’ve made should be refunded after about 14 days but recent posts suggest it’s taking a bit longer in which case you’ll need to call Sky to chase it up.

Re: Sky declining credit check for no reason

I contacted Sky but they said the reason for failing was that the address could not be matched. All addresses and names are the same. I don't know why Sky will not help. There has to be a solution to that. Both credit checking companies say there is no reason why Sky would reject me. Especially since I have been their customer for 6 years I don't understand why they would for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Can someone please tell me who I need to talk to at Sky so that this is rectified? It clearly is a big Sky issue.

@Sonja3 You keep saying Sky have rejected you for no reason but that's not the case, they have given you their reason and that is the addresses don't match.

If they are sticking to that reason then there is little you can do other than raise a formal complaint, but as with all credit no company is obliged to accept your application regardless of the length of custom or your credit score.

Re: Sky declining credit check for no reason

I have made a formal complaint yesterday. I am not able to see their records only their bills and all three addresses match. There is therefore no reason at all for their rejection. Also, I think it is wrong to reject someone who has never had a bad credit score and has proven to be loyal customer for 6 years and has never once failed to pay the bill of any bill for that matter. I may contact the customer protection agency, perhaps they can tell me what to do about this.

@Sonja3 There is a reason for their rejection and they have told you that, customer loyalty and length of custom has no bearing on your eligiblity for credit and your good credit score doesn't mean you will be accepted, no company is obliged to offer you credit just because you have applied for it.

If Sky are sticking to their explanation then its unlikely that will change, you may be better off applying elsewhere and see if you are accepted or if you are declined for the same reason.

It's annoying but it will be an automated system for which staff cannot override.

Of course, you cannot make a company give you credit.

Unless there's a major problem with the credit checking routines there may be not be a way forward unfortunately.  (But as noted multiple credit checks can have a negative effect)

Yes, there is clearly domething wrong with their process, it's just a shame they are not willing to look into rectifying it.

Maybe - I suspect it's not affecting the majority.

Re: Sky declining credit check for no reason

I get that but I will not be the only one effected by their issue. I also know that the best advertisement is recommendation and I sure will no longer recommend Sky now. In fact I will cancel all other Sky products. How counter productive is that attitude?...  anyways. I came here to try and find out what I can do, not to rand about the unexpectedly bad customer service that I have received. Since there is no solution found here either, I know my options.

Re: Sky declining credit check for no reason

My experian score is 999 equifax 880 and I was rejected also 😂 no black marks, never missed a payment.

Definitely something wrong with their automated system.

We will just have to take our business elsewhere. Very annoying and they have the best 0% interest deals.

I'm also having the same issue.

I'm a Gold VIP member and had perfect credit. They won't help or even offer to look into it.

@Mishro  How much you pay to Sky & tenure has no bearing on a credit search, Sky like all responsible lenders will carry out a hard search, if you fail Sky can't offer you a credit facility,  All hard sesrches will show regardless of being sucessful or not.
