Sky Mobile Ireland cannot receive calls while roaming in Northern Ireland
Hi,
For the last few weeks I've been having an issue with Sky Mobile Ireland while I'm in Northern Ireland. I cannot recieve calls, sometimes the phone rings for a second then it gets cut off and I get a message saying that I missed a call. Other time the other has told me they get a voice that says no routes available when trying to call me. People have to call me on WhatsApp to get through. However I can make outgoing calls with no issues. I've also noticed this issue as arisen since the default connection when I'm in NI has changed to EE and I haven't been able to get 5G since this while in NI. I cannot select a different provider in my settings as when I do it says they are unavailable, never had this issue when the device would automatically select 02 as the provider whilst roaming. I have rest my APNs on numerous occasions without any success.
Very poor service if I cannot receive calls while roaming.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Damien

The chat bubble seems to have gone. Still unable to receive calls from people in Ireland while in the North it rings briefly and cuts to voicemail and when people try to call from the North it says "No routes found".

Re: Sky Mobile Ireland cannot receive calls while roaming in Northern Ireland
Has this been resolved, I and two other members of my family are having this issue. Issue seems to be isolated to the UK as I have been able to receive calls in the rest of the EU.

Re: Sky Mobile Ireland cannot receive calls while roaming in Northern Ireland
No unfortunately...after prolonged chats with sky representatives both using the bubble and WhatsApp nothing as changed. I have been using the recommended APNs given too my by Sky and still nothing. Calls come in for about a second and then it hangs up on them. Although if I answer within that second the call works fine.
Very frustrating that I can't receive calls while in the North.

Was on NI on 16 Sept, still not resolved. Either there's no service or device showing 4G signal with no data behind the scenes. Been like this since the beginning of August. Sky is silent on the issue.

It's disappointing to hear that this has not yet been resolved . I will have to buy eSIM for my next trip to NI. I switched from Vodafone to sky to save money

It's still not sorted. I was up north last week and still experienced call and data issues. I did however have two eSIM's active on my device. The non Sky eSIM performed flawlessly. No rebooting, resetting networks, manually selecting a carrier etc, just worked.

Re: Sky Mobile Ireland cannot receive calls while roaming in Northern Ireland
This has been an ongoing issue with Sky Ireland for over 12 months, and despite numerous complaints, it has still not been resolved, to the extent that last week, after yet another long and frustrating multiple call session with Sky first level support, I have cancelled my Sky mobile package, and moved to Vodafone, and as a result, on my latest (regular) trip to the UK, I have perfect 5 bar 5G coverage, in an area where previosly I used to have many hours of emergency calls only, effectively no service, and I can both make and receive calls from family members in Ireland for the first time in 12 months, service the way it is supposed to be.
Sky Ireland have utterly failed to deliver on their promises, a major upgrade to resolve roaming issues was supposedly coming in September and we discovered last week that it has not happened, and with a trip to the UK this week, and a trip to the Netherlands next week, I decided that I had to change something, so I did, having lost all faith in their ability or willingness to resolve the ongoing problems with roaming, it seems that their systems cannot cope with and recognise that a longer time is required to connect to roaming, and as a result the calls fail to correctly connect.
It's not just Northern Ireland, the same problems occur in the UK, and Europe, to the extent that last year on one trip, to get ANY service at all in the Netherlands, I had to buy a PAYG local sim, which worked perfectly within seconds. There comes a point where a cheap service that does not deliver what was promised becomes a total pain, and we reached that point last week when my wife's phone in Newry failed to connect when I called her 10 seconds after she called me, and I knew that we were wasting our time reporting this issue, the only thing that Sky understand is users voting with their feet.
Even migrating off the service was a nightmare, I got the confirmation text from Vodafone on Friday at 16:35, and according to Sky's website, their migration service operates from 0900 to 1900 Monday to Friday. My phone eventually ported on the Monday at 09:15
I suspect it will be a very long time before I will even consider Sky's mobile service again, being out of contact when roaming is a major issue for me, and Sky have manifestly and comprehensively failed to deliver on this since they started their Irish service. Even Comreg are unable to get a sensible response to complaints registered with Sky.
