Sky Mobile Ireland VOLTE not working

I had this exact problem with no volte settings and tech support couldn't help.

I wonder why it worked for Xiaomi but won't Samsung @Deezell

@Skyy123 @Deezell tried something similar on my OnePlus, even used a patch and Shizuku and no luck!! I can turn the setting on in the menu now as it appears and isn't greyed out but still doesn't work... Sky really need to sort this. The fact we are all are having to try things like this is a joke!! This should all have been sorted before release!!!

@Whateverirl   has had a reply on this similar thread. Sky have promised action related to Samsung brands and models, in conjunction with Samsung.

I've read similar problems and attempted solutions to locked features on Reddit, blocked USSD, then blocked access to phone service mode as you attempt to reverse the blocks. Irate users rightfully call out carriers who make unauthorised changes to their private property, their phones feature,  ss as soon as you insert their Sim. Apparently Verizon in the US are the most notorious for this, but the phone makers are implicated in the practice too.

The 'ss' in my post above is a typo, but as you can't edit ( or I haven't figured outhow), the 'ss' sort of makes its own statement.

I have a Xiaomi phone too and put in that code *#*#86583#*#* and it did nothing unfortunately, still no data when making or receiving calls.

@dmike30  I got the code from Reddit and had no internet when on a call and customer care couldn't help as phone didn't t have volte option. I must have got lucky - it's a mi 11t pro.

Maybe search for codes on Reddit you might find one

Just looked at those codes again, they  may be specific to Xiaomi? Did the VoLte/WiFicalling menu items then appear in 'settings/connections/mobile networks'  for VoLte,   and in the Phone dialler app 'Settings' for WiFi calling? Or did you get a phone info page with some toggles on it to enable them.

@dmike30, Check to see if there are VoLte/WiFi calling  menu items as above. Also, make a call, then check call history, see if it showed up as edge or 4g or Volte.  Some Xiaomi users on this thread below reported it worked without any visible menu chooser.

@dmike30 I got an option to toggle on and off the volte now in SIM car settings. There's also an option for WiFi calling there now that never was there before. I think as soon I put the code in the volte symbol showed up beside 5g at top of screen.

Phone isn't too new about 2 years old too

Some, but not all, calls for me are showing up for what looks like "HD" beside the number in small writing now

I installed the Google dialler and I noticed on the recents list that many of the calls were indeed listed as HD,  some numbers were HD on some occasions but not others, and this HD tag was showing for calls back before my sky sim. I've read up on it, and some of the older call protocols have HD capability, and it's not limited to 3g. There is not a clear cut call protocol for 2G and another for 3G, it's complicated, but some protocols under the 2G banner have HD uplift available. This would account for better voice quality, and the HD tag,  but it's not Voice over the LTE data channel. My knowledge is sketchy on this, I done an intense week long mobile telecoms training course, in a Telecom Eireann training facility in the late 90s, part of a modular M.Sc Course, but I never worked in that field, and it was so new back then. It's a challenge just to learn how technologies actually works, so how to figure what's wrong when it doesn't is an even bigger step. Its one of the few reasons I'm glad I'm retired.

No 5G for any carriers in my location.

Its definitely a fault with Sky mobile service and not the phone or phone settings. The VoLte has to be turned on by the carrier, ie Sky for each type of phone amd activated through the SIM card which then enables Volte to appear in the settings. In other words no matter what codes I do or do not input on my phone, they will NOT work if its not ALSO turned on for that phone type at Sky's end which its obviously not.

Prime example of this is I have a dual sim phone and still have my three sim card in my phone, the instant i go to that cards settings the Volte options are there so i put my friends gomo card in also and took out the sky sim and likewise the Volte settings were there and on, and i even swapped them around in sim slots and both still had volte turned on but the instant i put the sky card in either slot the volte option disappears and same when i activate the phone information settings which shows all sim settings, again the volte option not available.

Its totally Skys fault and An Post have the same issue as they both piggy back on the Vodafone network and cos Vodafone have deleted their actual 3g network thats where it all stems from, that neither Sky or An Post has properly set up their carrier networks for VoLte for all phones. its a total disgrace and their Indian customer service haven't a clue and just give the same lying excuse, "we've no timeframe when it will be fixed", absolute rubbish.

So I suppose I got lucky that sky had volte settings enable for my 11t pro, and the code let me enable the volte settings

It seems that way. It could well be a consequence of pulling '3G' which to management was just a cost saving option. Switch off those boxes and save on maintenance, but 3G is more than that, there may be years of technical integration of systems involved. Pulling a piece out of the middle could have huge unforseen consequences which we're seeing now. I've read that some Vodafone customers on expensive  plans have suffered also. Sky may have picked the wrong network,

Have given up hope, just gonna have to wait it out I think.
