HI
Has anyone got around the issue of Sky not blacklisting a handset because it was purchased elsewhere?
My insurance insist the Iphone needs to be blacklisted before settling, but Sky have said they dont because it was not purchased from them.
I cant get anything in writing from Sky to prove to the Insurer they dont do it.
Any advice please?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI believe if your device is on the list of devices for the SIM Sky can try to blacklist it but it's a bit hit and miss, so I’ve escalated your post to Sky and the Escalation Team may get in touch with you later.
Look out for an email and also a blue/red speech bubble at the bottom of your forum page. Once that speech bubble appears you only have 48 hours to join the private chat or it will close automatically. If you fail to respond to each chat reply from Sky within 48 hours the chat will again close down automatically even if your issue hasn’t been resolved. Replies from Sky aren’t instant so you’ll need to check the chat thread regularly.

If you are using Safari also make sure that Hide IP Address is not checked in order to see the chat bubble. If you have trouble finding this to check the settings, use another browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

The network provider (ie Sky) are the only people that can block via the imei number so as per the norm they are feeding you nonsense.
I once had this issue on Vodafone using a phone I purchased direct from Apple. Apple, the Police and my insurers all told me only the service provider could blacklist the handset, despite Vodafone insisting this wasn't the case, eventually they listened and it got sorted. My only advise is to keep on at Sky, it'll be like banging your head against a brickwall as they'll insist they're not responsible. They will be wrong and eventually youy may have to make some sort of formal complaint.
Only your service provider can block via imei.

Thanks for all suggestions people.
I did speak to chat, they are now saying the IMEI number is not associated with the sim/account!!
I put the sim card in December 21 when I bought the handset and have used it since .
I am going round in circles and have no idea how the the handset was not registered as being used with the sim, only an old sky handset and one I am borrowing now.
There is no resolution to this, Sky are unable to explain how its not registered.

I just had success over facebook messenger getting sky to block an IMEI
"Thanks for your patience *NAME*, I have just reached out to the mobile escalation team. They have confirmed that we can blacklist the device if it has been used with one of our sims, which it has, so I have now blacklisted this for you and you will also receive confirmation of this for your insurance company via email.
Sorry this information is not readily available to use, which is why I had to seek further advice."
