Hi all
I am currently in Germany and keep getting texts from sky to say my roaming passport plus has been activated despite turning mobile data off. I don't want to keep getting charged £2 per day for the rest of my holiday when I am not even using data! (Texts and calls should be free as they are included on my normal plan and initial text said these would be included).
can anyone help? Thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Nic86 The roaming charge will apply as soon as you send a text or make a call, it's not just for data use.
Roaming Passport Plus
In your destination, you can access your UK data, calls and texts plan for £2 for 24 hours with our Roaming Passport Plus pass.
How it worksThe £2 pass activates automatically when you're in one of the Roaming Passport Plus destinations and you:
We’ll text when the 24-hour period has started and again when it's coming to an end, so you can decide what you want to do next. If you don't want to pay another £2 charge, you could turn off data roaming and mobile data when you get the text.
Don’t want to use Roaming Passport Plus? Turn off data roaming and mobile data in your phone settings before you get to your destination and don’t call or text while you’re away.

I've posted a pic above of the text I received when I first landed. Surely my texts shouldn't be charged?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Nic86 You are misreading the text, you STILL need the Roaming Passport to access your Home Data & Calls & Texts.
You are not being charged for the calls or texts you are being charged to access them away from the UK.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHi @Nic86 as already mentioned above by @daveNOS sending a text, making a call or using data triggers the charge which then gives access to your home allowance and piggybank. Before Brexit roaming was free, since May this year sky reintroduced a charge.

Wow! That's disgraceful then. Really disappointed with that. Not been charged for texts abroad with any of my previous phone providers for 10 years plus! That is really very disappointing from Sky

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt's not just sky @Nic86 other networks (not all yet) have also introduced roaming charges. The announcement was made to all customers as part of an email earlier this year.

Thanks for the help everyone. Disappointing but not much can be done! It's a shame sky have done this as my husband is managing to use his data and inclusive calls and texts with O2 for no additional charges

So I pay for my contract for two weeks during which time I can't use it without paying more for it, wow talk about being ripped off.
