Return Packaging request

I wanted to return an item and requested returns packaging as I thought I couldn't use any other packaging. The email sent had a label attached. I have now found packaging that I can use. Do I need to wait for the returns packaging to come through or can I just use the packaging I have as I don't want to go out of the returns window. Thanks!
