No network on new phone

I have just upgraded my phone but my old sim is not working in the new phone.  I did get a text message from Sky following the swop, but the network has been lost since, so there is no reception at all now.

The same thing has just happened to me within the last couple of hours. I'm getting a 4g symbol, but nothing opens
