Hi,
I recently enabled 5g on my sim however my phone still isn't showing an option to 'prefer' 5g. I have a Moto G 5G Plus and live in a 5g coverage area.

Go to phone and call *#*#4636#*#*
Click phone info and set "Set preferred network type" to "NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA".
Obviously no warranty provided and you do this at your own risk.

Thanks @brendonx before trying this is anyone aware why it won't work with Sky normally? Is anyone working on a legit fix? It's a bit odd to advertise 5g but not let people use it on their phones.

So I called Sky and they said this is a known issue with Motorola. I contacted motorola and they said that they basically haven't gotten round to testing the networks in the UK, they said they'd do an update but could say if this would be done even within the next year.

Bump. Anyone got an update on this. My son has 5g enabled and a Moto g50 but can't get 5g even though settings are correct

I just bought a G50 and the suggested fix by @brendonx solved it for me just fine. You still won't get a 5g option under "settings" but it picks up 5g no problem.
I contacted Motorola about this and got this response:
The moto g50 is not compatible with 5G on the Sky Mobile network. It currently supports 5G on the following networks:
3
EE
O2
GiffGaff
Vodafone
5G support for the following networks will be added in a future update:
Virgin
iD Mobile
There are currently no plans to enable 5G support for Sky Mobile although that might change in the future
So the problem is 100% Motorola and unless you go for the above fix you will be stuck with 4g on Sky mobile for the foreseeable future.

Hello all, I am new to forums.
I tried this (thanks brendox)
It worked . It got the internet working (obviously I doesn't say 5G bit at least it's working.
The only problem I have is the text messages don't work most of the time. The times they do work they get delivered late.
There is one number that I contact a lot and I can't receive the messages from that number bit they do recive mine most of the time.
Does anybody know a fix for this ?
Thank you.
