New SIM number is still in use

Hi

 

I recently bought a new SIM for my daughter. It activated ok and almost immediately I get text messages from a bank. I try to setup Whatsapp and it says this number is active on another device. I then start to get calls from people trying to contact the previous owner of  this number.

 

Is is possible to get a new number? This phone is for my daughter and I don't want strangers calling her all the time!

All mobiles number on all mobile networks are recycled as there is only a certain number of them so from what you have said this number has previously been used by someone else. All you can do is to call Sky on 150 to ask them to cancel this one and to send you another one that will have a different one to try, and while there is always the chances it could happen again you would have to be pretty unlucky for it to happen with consecutive sims.

Thank you. If Sky had just put "Call 150 if you need help" on their website, i'd have done that in the first place...
