My son has a sim but his data is not working

I requested a new sim thinking this was the issue but he has never been able to use his data on his new phone so been about a year now and not sure what to do next,  do we need the APN settings for his device it's a MotoG62

We cannot use the phone properly but it worked fine in his previous device
