Re: LTE not 4G

LTE and 4G are differnet names for the same thing. Some phones will show 4G, others will show LTE.

Re: LTE not 4G

Hi thanks for the post, do you think if I go into a 5G area it will work at the 5G speed?

LTE is generally regarded as 3.5G.

It may be a phone difference but it's possible that the OP is getting slower than 4G speeds.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Re: LTE not 4G

I think that may be the case in the USA but over here they are the same thing.  All generations of mobile technologies have different names that you may see depending on the phone such as

2G - GSM, GPRS, EDGE

3G -  HSPA, UMTS

4G - LTE, LTE-A

5G - NR

What's the difference between LTE and 4G?

Well, they are not competing. LTE is the technology behind 4G (the fourth generation of mobile communications - an architecture).

All 4G phones utilize LTE technology in 2022. It brings high speed to mobile and broadband data.

Re: LTE not 4G

This is really helpful information.

But....

Sky told me when I spoke to them and told them I "only have lte" it's a problem with the mast.

I believe that's now disproven as in based in Birmingham, tried new network settings request in Staffordshire and even Ireland 😂 They just never arrive! Also, this handset is a galaxy s10e which replaced a broken s10e that DID have 4G. Same SIM.

🤔
